Coleus Order…

Back in April 6, I received my Coleus order from Rosy Dawn Gardens. I finally was able to upload photos of my order.

Guess what’s in the package…

Filbert Steps…

This morning, my coworker Ed invited me to go with him up the Filbert Steps on Telegraph Hill (San Francisco), which is just 2 blocks away from my work. So at lunchtime, we started our trek, well equiped with our cameras.

I was amazed at the beauty of the gardens along the steps. (Am I sounding gay here?)The homeowners there must have buku bucks, because those propeties have such a lovely view.

We eventually ended up at the Coit Tower atop Telegraph Hill. I didn’t realize how close Coit Tower is to my work.

Is Spring Finally Here?

I just check our 15 day forecast and it looks like the rains have subsided with the exception of a possibility of showers next weekend.

Is spring finally here?

Weekend Gardening (A Little Bit of Everything)

Friday the first really nice day that we had in a while. It was actually warm and there was no rain… so I took out all the cuttings and seedlings from my room and placed them outside in the front porch. Everybody OUT!!! Unfortunately, it was chilly again on Saturday and Sunday, so they didn’t get to come back out.

Everybody OUT!!!

We have several plants blooming outside, including our first Roses. I several photos of the Rose blooms, unfortunately, I forgot to turn the macro setting and almost all those photos came out blurry. Here are some of my Mom’s White Bank Rose and Clematis in our back patio.

On Friday, my Mom and I went to Costco, and they were selling Purple Fountain Grass (Pennisetum setaceum ‘Cupreum’)… Hmmm? Everywhere I go, it seems that seeds start breaking off. Knowing me, I had to save them.

More (Found) Ornamental Grass Seeds

I’m not sure what type of ornamental grass these are. Both were found at the shopping center on Mini Dr. & Sonoma Blvd. (Vallejo, CA)

The first one is possible some type of Fountain Grass?

The second has upright blades with these seeds sticking out mid-stem. Possibly a Rush?

Variegata / Variegatus

After work, there was a lot of traffic on the freeway, so I exited and decided to see what they had at Yard Birds.

I found a Zebra Iris (Iris pallida ‘Variegata’) which I’ve wanted since I saw on a TV show. I’ve never seen one in person so I had to snag this one.

I also saw a Ornamental Grass (Acorus germineus ‘Variegatus’) which looked like a miniature Zebra Iris. It had a broken seed head so I had to save it.

I’m Not Spoiled :/

Just for fun:

If you have more than 40, you’re spoiled and should be killed.

I collected the Carex seeds back in the Summer 2005 and they grew! I have to sow more for my friend who helped me collect them. Here are links to photos of the Carex seeds when I found them: photo 1, photo 2
