My Lemon Grass has rooted…

About a week and a half ago, I bought some Lemon Grass from Seafood City (a Filipino grocery store) and soaked it in water to see if it’ll root.

Well, it did!!!… and I noticed that a side shoot was starting to sprout, so I planted it in a pot with soil and hopefully it’ll start growing more shoots. I never grew or seen a Lemon Grass plant, so I don’t know if I should cut the original stalk back.

Yellow Pear Tomato RIP, Planting Bok Choy and Lettuce Harvest

After being sick for 3 days and having surprise showers, I was able to go outside and work in the garden.

My Yellow Pear Tomato died for some reason. I’m not sure why, but the others tomato plants next to it looks fine and healthy. I noticed some new tomatoes plants that sprouted from the homemade compost that I mixed in the bed and planted it in the Yellow Pear Tomatoes place.

I also transplanted the Bok Choy that I planted from seeds to the bed. I just hope that the bugs don’t eat them all up.

The Lettuce are getting big and I was able to harvest some for dinner.

I also took a whole bunch of photos around the garden, but will post them behind a cut in my next entry.

A trip to the San Francisco Botanical Garden…

On Saturday, I went to a plant sale at the San Francisco Botanical Garden. I’ve never been to one, so I just wanted to see what a plant sale is like and what was available. It wasn’t as big as I thought, but they had alpine plants, some succulents and other perennials. I enjoyed looking at the other gardens that lead to the nursery and regretted not bringing my camera. There was one flowing plant that I just had to take a picture of.

Sorry for the poor quality, but this photo was taken with my mobile phone.

Now I want to take a day off of work and plan a day trip (with my camera) and take loads of pictures.

Mystery Plant

I have a weed in one of my containers that I can’t identify. I don’t want to kill it because I’m fascinated with the plant. At first I thought it was a pepper or tomato, but it doesn’t seem to be one.

The plant is about a foot and a half in height and has leaves that resemble a pepper or tomato leaf. It has round green fruits that look like a tomato, but is only about 1/4 inch round and turns to a dark purple (almost black).

1. The fruits above are about 1/4 inch round and turn a dark purple (almost black).

Photo 2
2. This is a similar plant I saw in an empty lot in San Francisco. Same fruits, but the leaves are slightly different from the one I have at home.

Can anyone identify these plants? Thank you.
