Stitch Modern 2013 (continued)…

The East Bay Modern Quilt Guild’s Stitch Modern 2013 quilt show last month was a great success. We had lectures, speakers, discussion panels, family activity day and even a sew day. I tried to help out at most of the activities and take photos, which you can see on my Flickr photoset called “Stitch Modern 2013 Quilt Show“.

Quilt San Francisco: The Evolution of an Art Form

The show is done, but the San Francisco Quilters Guild asked if we would display our quilts as a special section of their quilt show QUILT San Francisco: Evolution of an Art Form, which runs Saturday and Sunday, March 9 and 10, 2013 at the Concourse Exhibition Center (635 8th Street, San Francisco). They graciously allotted a large space for us to put up our quilts, which we set up earlier today. Most of the quilts from our Stitch Modern 2013 travelled to San Francisco with some others joining the show.

Photos from the EBMQG October 2012 Meeting…

Here are some photos from the East Bay Modern Quilt Guild – October 2012 meeting that I attended this week.

You can also view the individual photos on my Flickr set “EBMQG – October 2012 Meeting“.

Double Thanks Carol!!!…

Last night, Carol Van Zandt gave members of the East Bay Modern Quilt Guild some fabrics from her new line called “Licorice Fizz” from Andover Fabrics.
THANK YOU CAROL!!!

Licorice Fizz

I especially like the black and light grey fabrics that look like faces. They reminded me of the soot characters from Studio Ghibli’s Spirited Away.

Bou Nezumi

I looked online to see what they were called… and I discovered that a toy rat–which has been driving me crazy trying to figure out what anime he was from–is Bou Nezumi from Spirited Away!!!

THANKS AGAIN CAROL!!!… The soot characters, by the way, are called Susuwatari.

Photos from the EBMQG May Meeting…

I was finally able to upload photos from May’s East Bay Modern Quilt Guild meeting onto my Flickr site.

Here’s the photoset: “EBMQG – May 2012 Meeting“… or you can click below to view a slideshow.

Stacey who normal runs the monthly meetings is in Virginia for a couple months, so Lauren ran the May meeting. Here are notes from the meeting: eastbaymodernquiltguild.wordpress.com/2012/06/02/may-meeting-sans-stacey/

Goodbye Stitch Modern Quilt Show…

Earlier this afternoon, I drove down to the Piedmont Center for the Arts to help take down the EBMQG quilt show, Stitch Modern, and to pick up my quilt and bring it home. I took my PlantCam time lapse camera and set it up to take a photo every 30 seconds… I think I should have decreased the delay to take photos every 15 seconds.

Stitch Modern – East Bay Modern Quilt Guild’s First Quilt Show…

The East Bay Modern Quilt Guild that I’m a member of is having its first quilt show called Stitch Modern. Come check out my quilt called “Habitat Arrows” which I just recently finished. You’ll also see other great handmade quilts from the EBMQG members and see how each quilter interprets “modern quilting” differently, wheather it’s with the latest fabrics and traditional patterns, or free piecing using no pattern.
