Older Photos…

I was going through older photos in my iPhoto library and found two that I took at my friend, Howard’s, old apartment. These were taken on March 2001.

I use to call these Clovers, but recently discovered that they are actually Oxalis. They grow as weeds in San Francisco and I read that they are hard to get rid of. One of my friend, Dave, told me that as a child he use to pick the long flower stems and suck on them. I tried it and surprised to find it very tangy like a lemon.

  • They’re beautiful! Thanks for sharing, I love all your photos.

    • Thank you very much for your kind word :)… I’m glad I can share my photos with all of you.

  • Wow..I’ve not seen yellow ones! Here in our area we have pink and purple Oxalis. It grows wild here too, I even have to yank it out of my beds constantly or it will take over. I leave some though in little areas to bloom.

    • We have the light purple ones here, but they don’t grow rampant. They just randomly show up in some of our cactus and succulent pots. I love how they look and just leave them… I think of them as an added bonus of color. I found an old picture of one and posted it on my latest entry ( Dec. 19 )

  • Oxalis is sometimes called Yellow clover here in Wisconsin and is highin vitamin C so I munch on it a lot when out in the garden.

    • ohh… so I wasn’t totally incorrect when I called these Clovers.
