Chilean Guava…

I saw this article about Chilean Guava and decided that I must get one.
Chilean Guava — why doesn’t everyone have one of these?

  • I think I need to hunt these guys down for the nursery – looks like they’re hardy here! And one Dave’s Garden reviewer in Montana says they’re a great houseplant, too. :)

    • I hope you find some. I found one at a local nursery… and I was lucky, since it was the last one :) One of the staff members told me that it should be an evergreen in our area. Oh… and it really taste like guava… in a tiny blueberry like package. I love the scent too…

      • I AM SO EXCITED…I found a wholesale source for Chilean guava in Oregon – and they’re arriving tomorrow!! :)

        • YEAY!!!!! I’m so happy for you!…

How many did you get?… Will they be evergreen in your area?

I really like how ours smell. The whole plant smells like guava… yumm!…

Did you hear of this plant through me, or did you already know about it?

          • I only got three (we don’t have much of a plant-buying budget this season) but they’re gorgeous…2 gallon size, already about 4 feet tall. Pretty plant! Definitely looks like a myrtle. I brought one home and we already sold one, so just one left. I’ll take cuttings next summer, for sure – looks like they’ll be easy.

I’ve heard of them for years but your testimonial made me really, really want one and think they’d be good things to sell here, so thanks for that. :) Testing its hardiness as we speak: it’s 18° here right now. :(

          • Burr! That’s cold!!!!

That’s great that you got big plants. Mine was only in a one-gallon container, but we probably wouldn’t have much space if it was bigger. Was there berries? Did you harvest anything from it? Here’s a photo on mine: http://www.flickr.com/photos/joeysplanting/4049600318/

  • Looks like I’d have to bring it in during the winter and I’m out of space. Bummer…

    • Bummer… I’ll share some photos here once I get it downloaded on my Mac…
